Chuva de granizo

Pois bem, a temperatura por aqui estava em torno dos 30 graus Celsius até que, de repente....uma chuva de granizo!

Well, temperatures here were around 30 celsius (100 F) until, out of the blue, along came a hail storm!

Foi um pouco assustador...o Quico tinha acabado de sair de carro (e por sorte, o carro não amassou – pois vimos muitos carros cheios de marcas das pedras de gelo). Eu e a Alice estávamos em casa. Como o apartamento fica no último andar, fez um barulhão. Parecia que ia cair o telhado. Assistam ao vídeo !!!

It was a little scary. Quico had just set out with the car (luckily it did not get dented, but we saw lots of cars all wrinckled by the ice rocks). Alice and I were home. As the apartment is in the last floor, the hail made a huge noise. It felt as if the roof was collapsing. Watch the video!

Quando a coisa diminuiu um pouquinho eu e a Alice descemos para que ela pudesse pegar uns gelinhos. Parecia que tinha sido tirado daquelas formas de gelo redondas de tão redondinhos que eram.

When the storm subsided, Alice and I went downstairs so she could pick some ice. They looked as if they were taken from those round ice molds we have in the fridge.

Depois disso a temperatura baixou para 8 graus! Já aprendi que aqui em Calgary nunca se sabe prever o tempo e precisamos sempre sair com um casaco à tira colo.

The temperature then dropped to 8 celsius (50 F). I already learned here in Calgary we never know the weather and always need to have a coat at hand.
