Bruna was here!

Bruna (Alice's friend from Brazi) and her mom (Lu) came here to visit us for a week, in the week after our spring break; it was great!
Alice and Bruna played all the time and had a lot of fun. I took so many pictures of them that I will post them (not all, of course) in two separate postings.

Here is Alice waiting for Bruna at the airport early in the morning.

And here they are in front of the international departure section. The first picture of them! You can see in their faces how happy they were!

Some more pictures of them playing together.

Here are them in an ice skating ring in Fairfax. Alice waited a lot for this moment so we couldn’t miss this program.

After two rainy days we could finally go outdoors so we visited DC. In order to see most places we could we did sightseeing in a tourist bus.

We visited the Capitol.

And we visited the White House.

And just saw around the monuments and others.

At the end of the day…..

…they fell asleep!

April Showers bring May flowers!

Now I can understand why they have this popular say.
Agora posso entender esse ditado.

Since we’ve been living here (almost 9 months) most of the time the weather has been great! It means: not much rain, dry air and no clouds in the sky, just lovely!
Desde que estamos morando aqui (quase 9 meses), na maior parte do tempo o clima é ótimo. Sem nuvens no céu, pouca chuva e seco – pelo menos para nós de POA. Maravilhoso!

But…nature needs rain, I know, and as nature is perfect, rain comes one day. Well, not really in just one day but during many days! All these rain falls in April. The trees, the grass, the animals have been very happy these days…How about us? – We are happy too! – but only because of the May flowers! hehehe…
Hehehehe...

Actually, we can already see lots of flowers around here and some trees that, just three days before, didn’t have any leaf , they are now very green.
Na verdade, tudo já está bem florido por aqui e algumas árvores que insistiam em ficarem peladas até uns 3 dias atrás, já estão agora bem verdinhas.

Soon I will post some beautiful pictures of the spring visions from here.
Logo postarei algumas fotos primaveris daqui.

Showers kisses,
Marina

Desenho da Laura

Aqui tem um desenho que a Laura (filha da Déa) fez. Achei fofo que ela, mesmo tão distante, nos desenhou....

Adoramos Laura!

A little bit more about New York

As you all can see we love NY. Just being over there is enough to make us relax. Watch people walking in the streets, lots of stores and markets and a very huge and efficient public transport system are some of those things that make us enjoy NY.

NY City is also nice because it shelters the old and the new in harmony: some very huge and modern buildings are placed together with some old and also huge constructions. This is the kind of beauty you can find in NY.

We arrived in NY crossing the George Washington Bridge and soon we took the subway to take the cable car (aerial tramway) that connects Roosevelt Island to Manhattan. From the tram we could enjoy a little bit of NY view.

PLAY!

At night we walked around 5th Avenue and Times Square where we could find the Toys R Us super store. Inside this store there is a T-rex dinosaur and a ferris wheel where Alice and I took a round.

PLAY

Just have a look at what else we found over there for sale. Value? $749.99!!!!!!

We could compare this Pele jersey to the others famous stuff and observe that Pele is very well quoted.

At the end of the day we had dinner in a Romanian restaurant close to our hotel. Alice was exhausted!

The day next we went to the Liberty Island to have a closer look at the Liberty Lady! It was Alice’s request for us.

From the Island we could see the beauty of Manhattan.

Later we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge was built in 1883, is 5,989 feet (1825 m) long and crosses the East River connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn. You can either cross it walking or by car. It is a very beautiful construction and one of NY City symbols.

The nest day was raining then we spent most of the time inside the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Alice had lots of fun.

Look to the size of this snake - Unbelievable!

And we had fun too.

In the evening we went to a Spanish restaurant in Greenwich village (that Selmo was missing since he had moved out of NY) to have mussels and salmon. It was delicious!

Later we just walked around the World Trade center area and Wall Street.

On Sunday morning Alice found her Easter basket and we left NY!

It was a pleasure has Selmo’s company.
Thanks Selmo!
