Summer Vacation: Normandy Beach, NJ

As some of you already know we had a small trip during the first week of our summer vacations. We drove more than 800 miles (1300 km) from Manassas, VA, to Maine. First we went to Normandy Beach in New Jersey and stayed over there for two days. From there we went to Boston, Massachusetts, and from there we went to Acadia National Park in Maine.

In Normandy Beach, NJ, we slept at Tom’s mother’s house. Tom is a teacher in the same school Quico was teaching and he had invited us to stay some days at his mother`s (Rosemary) house by the beach.

Here are the first pictures of our trip: a quick stop to have a very American Hot Dog! Just have a look at the place! I felt as I was in an American movie! Hehehe….Just have a look at the bike parked in front of the place! Very cool!

Here you can see some pictures of Rosemary’s house. The house was built around 1935 and is really pretty and very cozy. We took lots of pictures of its interior….

Just have a look at the details!

The bathroom

The Bedroom

The Living room

I loved this phrase: aproveite as pequenas coisas pois um dia podes olhar para trás e perceber que estas eram grandes coisas

See what we found there!

We had breakfast in a traditional diner. Just have a look what he ordered to breakfast: it is called The Hungry Mariner. You've got to be really hungry to have it all for breakfast. See the dish in front of him, plus some pancakes (the plate next to the window) and some toast breads and he had everything –just kidding!
Hehehe....

We also had time to enjoy the New Jersey beach! The water wasn’t very warm, but good enough for Alice! After that she could play with her water balloons and have an outside shower!

Rosemary's house is the second house in the left. I took the picture from the edge of the shore.

A casa da Rosemary é a segunda à esquerda. Tirei a foto do início da praia.

More pictures

Here is another part of the beach: you have to pay to go in.

Having an ice cream.

Having a higher look from the beach

Playing mini golf

Tom and Rosemary were really kind to us and we had a nice time with them!

Father's Day

Last Sunday was father`s day here. Different from Mother`s day that is celebrated in the same date in Brazil, father`s day is celebrated in the second Sunday of June. It means that Quico
will have TWO father`s days this year. What good luck, isn`t it?

For father`s day Alice painted a t-shirt for him at Michaels store. Here you can see some pictures!

Having a special sub for lunch!

Special cards!

A special dinner! ...

... and a special story time!

This was the view from our apartment at 9:30 p.m. in the first summer`s day - and father`s day night!

Daddy kisses!
